Can you contextualize your rating "6.9"?

To me a 6.9/10 is a book that I would strongly recommend, although it isn't a must read.

More generally, my rating system looks like this:

<4: pass

4.1-6.0: worth a read

6.1-8.0: strongly recommend

8.1-9.0: extraordinary

9+: must read

I'll include my scale for future reviews!

I thoroughly enjoyed this review, Felix. In light of Van Buren's enigmatic public perception, could you share some of the notable policies he enacted in office?

He signed the Independent Treasury Act in 1840 which was a big win for the Democrats, although it was quickly repealed by the Whigs in 1841. He was also a big influence on Jackson during his time as Secretary of State and VP. That being said, I prefer focusing on Van Buren's career in New York as opposed to his time in national politics. That was when he was truly at his best.
